Double Pride Counseling
OUR CLIENTS come from a wide range of backgrounds and bring a wide range of issues. We help people with depression, anxiety, and stress whether it is stress from home, school, or work. In addition, we specialize in working with individuals and couples from diverse cultural backgrounds, and assist intercultural, interracial, immigrant, and international clients. We empower our diverse clients with Double Pride approaches to find the best of both their worlds.
GOTTMAN'S SEVEN PRINCIPLES FOR COUPLES
DP Couples Counseling and DP Couples Workshops teach couples in distress, too busy to connect, or whose relationship got lost amongst their daily parenting and work responsibilities how to rejuvenate their marriages using John Gottman's comprehensive research on seven key relationship principles.
THE DEAF COMMUNITY
Using sign language, we apply our revolutionary Five Generations approach to assist our clients' understanding of their experience in the larger scheme of deaf and hearing relationships over several generations. We assist deaf adults, “Kodas”, “Codas”, “Godas” and hearing parents with deaf children. Deaf people often view their experience as more similar to culturally diverse groups and communities than to the disabled population. The Deaf Community uses American Sign Language and have a social network that is often not visible to the mainstream.
DP WORKSHOPS AND EVENTS
We provide a variety of seminars and workshops aimed at assisting individuals, couples, parents, families, and groups to find the best of both their worlds together. DP Family Workshops help the whole family feel closer by exploring how potential cross cultural conflicts can turn into cross cultural connections.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP) COUNSELING
We provide EAP counseling which many companies offer their employees free of charge. We offer individual and couples counseling at our two convenient San Francisco Bay Area locations in Albany and Fremont.
BOTH WORLDS
Handling culturally complex personal, marital, and family issues helps us address our mainstream American clients even more effectively because there are so many ways people can feel caught in the middle or in a tug of war between two of their own “worlds”even their “world of work” and their “world of home”.

CULTURAL FOCUS
Different cultures have different approaches to home life, school life, and work life. They honor different traditions, gender role expectations, how involved each generation is with the other, who is financially responsible, and even your sense of humor can be greatly affected by your culture.
